Overview
BurnRate is a Zoom App that displays the real-time cost of your meeting based on participants' hourly rates. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Short version: we store only hourly rates you voluntarily enter. We do not sell or share your data.
Data We Collect
- Display name — obtained from Zoom SDK to associate your rate with your identity in the meeting
- Hourly rate — entered voluntarily by you to calculate meeting cost
- Private flag — whether you want your rate hidden from other participants
We do not collect email addresses, payment information, video or audio content, chat messages, or any other personal data.

- Email addresses or contact information
- Video, audio, or screen content
- Meeting chat messages
- Device identifiers or IP addresses
- Browsing history or usage analytics
How We Use Your Data
Your display name and hourly rate are stored in our database solely to persist your rate across meetings. This allows the app to remember your rate the next time you join a meeting without re-entering it.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the BurnRate service.
Data Storage & Security
Data is stored on Railway infrastructure (us-east region). We use HTTPS/TLS 1.2+ for all data in transit. Your hourly rate is stored in a database accessible only to the BurnRate service.
If you set your rate as private (🔒), only you can see your rate in the app — other participants see a lock icon instead.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your rate is retained as long as the app is active. You can delete your rate at any time by removing it in the app's participant list. To request full deletion of your data, contact us at the email below.
Third-Party Services
- Zoom — we use the Zoom Apps SDK to access your display name and meeting context. Subject to Zoom's Privacy Policy
- Railway — infrastructure provider for hosting and database storage
Children's Privacy
BurnRate is intended for professional use in workplace meetings. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 16 years of age.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top of this page.
